In our country, a vast number of productive sectors workers operate at high altitude over sea level being exposed to Chronic intermittent hypoxia (CIH), this working modality is unique in the world and has an acute expose component on every ascend and to chronic exposition component generated by monthly stays and years working in this conditions.
Shift modalities exposed to CIH are 4×3 and 7×7, being the last one the most compatible and used for workers in his social and familiar lives. After several decades of development, is still a pending challenge from the psychosocial and biomedical point of view, especially after Decree Nº 28 publish on November 2012 which modified 1999 Nº 594 decree which protect people health exposed to CIH recognizing Chronic intermittent Hypoxia as a cause of short and long terms reversible professional diseases, principally neurological and cardiopulmonary such as polycythemia, sleep disorders and pulmonary hypertension among others. However, there is not found validation processes in prevent protocols, evaluation and health monitoring of derivative diseases in this kind of exposition.
